Parliamentary Centre, Canada


The Parliamentary Centre is a Canadian not-for-profit organization that aims to improve the effectiveness of representative assemblies and governance mechanisms in Canada and around the world. As a global agency, it supports democratic institutions in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. The Centre:

  • designs, implements and manages programs;
  • conducts and publishes research
  • establishes and expands parliamentary networks.
  • it also acts as a broker and facilitator, fostering partnerships and providing access to a range of expertise.

The range of services offered by the centre include:

  • assessment and strategic planning
  • capacity building
  • outreach and networking
  • research and publications: specifically these include:
    • Occasional Papers on Parliamentary Government
    • Forum on Parliamentary reform
    • Parliamentarians' handbooks covering controlling corruption, policies on poverty reduction, as well as good governance and accountablity
