Parliamentary development
The Parliamentary Centre is a Canadian not-for-profit organization that aims to improve the effectiveness of representative assemblies and governance mechanisms in Canada and around the world. As a global agency, it supports democratic institutions in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. The Centre:
- designs, implements and manages programs;
- conducts and publishes research
- establishes and expands parliamentary networks.
- it also acts as a broker and facilitator, fostering partnerships and providing access to a range of expertise.
The range of services offered by the centre include:
- assessment and strategic planning
- capacity building
- outreach and networking
- research and publications: specifically these include:
- Occasional Papers on Parliamentary Government
- Forum on Parliamentary reform
- Parliamentarians' handbooks covering controlling corruption, policies on poverty reduction, as well as good governance and accountablity
