How to prepare a child before it has to go to court either as a victim or as a witness? These child-friendly guidelines help to make sure that children who have been harmed by crime or seen others harmed are protected and treated fairly when they say what happened to them in a court of law. It aims to make sure that the experience of children before court goes as smoothly as possible and provides the child with information it may need during this process.
The document also helps protect children when they talk to the police, lawyers, social workers and anyone else they meet before and after they go to court.
At the end of this document a list of words and their meanings that may be new to a child is given.
