Reproductive health in emergency situation generally refers to safe motherhood, family planning, gender based violence (GBV), and STD and HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment. These services are often not a priority in conflict affected societies, however steps are being taken to make these services part of the minimum requirements for primary health care. This toolkit aims to provide field agencies with a set of resources to plan an initial assessment in order to identify the reproductive health needs of conflict affected women.

Resources include a quantitative survey instrument, sampling instructions, a training manual, a data entry program, a list of key indicators, data analysis tables, suggestions for data use, and additional resources. The toolkit is broken into sections addressing each component of reproductive health in order to get a comprehensive overview of specific needs. Survey results can guide field agencies in selecting, promoting, and enhancing programs and services to improve the reproductive health of their target populations.
