Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)


PAHO is an international public health agency focusing on the countries of the Americas. It serves as the specialized organization for health of the Inter-American System. It also serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the WHO.

Information services include:

(a) Paho Bibliographic Information System (PAHO/INFO): computerised catalogue of the Pan American Health organisation Library. Projects included in the database.

(b) Union bibliographical database from the Repdisca Network (see plus union serials list. Available on CDROM.

(c) WWW/gopher site: includes series of country-level health profiles and publications list

(d) PAHO/IDNDR Regional Disaster Documentation Center: much of database is available on the Internet

(e) Contribution to the BIREME network (see separate entry)
