Non-communicable diseases (NCDs)
This is the website for the Second Project on Disease Control Priorities in Developing Countries (DCPP), a collaboration between the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Bank, and the Fogarty International Center, U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The objective of the project is to produce authoritative publications and resource materials to inform national-level and global-level health policy-making, on the basis of extensive analytical work and consultations with technical experts and policy-makers from around the world.
In April 2006, DCPP released the second edition of Disease Control Priorities in Developing Countries (DCP2) that includes updated information about the global burden of diseases brought about by tobacco, alcohol, psychiatric disorders, and injury, which account for an increasing proportion of deaths. DCP2, as well as other publications, data and related research, can be downloaded from the DCPP site.
