Delivering information services using ICTs
- Supporting African voices in the media
-
The impact of local, diverse voices at home and abroad is gaining strength, as some mainstream media organisations abandon serious international news. The shrinking world of instant communications is enabling local media to impact upon the international agenda as never before. With a particular focus on radio journalists in Africa, this handbook is a practical, hands-on manual designed to help local journalists in societies undergoing major crisis and change. The handbook reviews reporting on general, political and human rights issues. It has sections on location recording and computer-based audio editing. It provides guidance on safety and security and sensitive reporting in conflict areas, as well as libel issues.
