This guide covers all the steps involved in the localisation process starting from fundamental topics such as locale, character encoding and fonts creation to advanced topics including input methods, gettext framework and translation guidelines.

The guide takes some FOSS applications such as KDE, GNOME, OpenOffice and Mozilla(Firefox) as case-studies. There is also a list of tools for the various tasks in localisation.
