The past three decades have seen a quiet but dramatic revolution in health education programmes. International health organisations, ministries of health and PVOs recognise not only the essential role that prevention and health promotion play within health care systems, but also the contribution that a modern health communication methodology offers to these programmes and to the well-being of their people. The challenge now is how to carry out effective health communications programs.

The tool box is designed to help managers of health communication programmes improve their unit's organisation and credibility while simultaneously strengthening staff members' communication skills and confidence in their ability to apply the communication methodology described in the Tool Box.

This collection of practical tools includes management ideas, models, concepts, and strategies that have been field-tested under the pressures of real-life and real-time logistical barriers, challenging cultural contexts, human resources issues, and funding problem.

Format: this toolbox is available as a web-page from which you can download small PDF files dealing questions you need to ask yourself proceeded by a method for finding the solution(s) and developing skills needed to address the questions.
