The Ford Foundation (FF) in Eastern Africa supports many initiatives in the areas of culture, media, education, rights, governance and environment. In this brief paper, readers are given an outline of the most effective ways to apply for programme funding. Though aimed at FF funding, the guidelines are applicable to all major development funding agencies.
Aspects covered in the guidelines include:
- describing why the proposed activity is important and relevant
- what the project is trying to achieve
- how objectives will be reached
- how to measure and evaluate progress
- who will implement the project and what the staffing structure looks like
- outlining the project budget.
