Monitoring and Evaluation

What difference are we making? A toolkit on monitoring and evaluation for Health Links

Monitoring and evaluating Health Links

Authors: M. Gordon; C. Potts
Publisher: Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET), UK, 2008

The international community is increasingly recognising the benefits of international health work undertaken through long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships such as Health Links. With this in mind, this publication aims to provide a timely, high quality guide to monitoring and evaluation (M&E) specifically for Health Links partners in developing countries and in the UK.

This toolkit was produced in response to requests from Links and has been developed with their active participation. It gives clear step by step guidance for achievable, effective M&E for the whole range of Links, illustrated with numerous case studies.

The toolkit is designed to be of value both to Links that are new to M&E and to those with more experience, who can use the toolkit for reference and for signposting to further sources of information.

Topics include:

  • Monitoring and evaluation in context
  • Planning to monitor a Link project
  • Practical tools for collecting data
  • Tips for analysing data and writing reports
  • Designing an evaluation for a Link
  • Follow-up to evaluations

The toolkit can be downloaded in individual chapters at: http://www.thet.org.uk/index.php#page/index/guidanceforlinks.html
