Physicians for Human Rights

Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) mobilizes health professions and enlists support from the general public to protect and promote the human rights of all people. The organisation:

  • believes that human rights are essential for the health and wellbeing of all members of the human family
  • uses medical and scientific methods, to investigate and expose violations of human rights worldwide and works to stop them
  • supports institutions to hold perpetrators of human rights abuses (including health professionals), accountable for their actions
  • educates health professionals and medical, public health, and nursing students and organizes them to become active in supporting a movement for human rights and creating a culture of human rights in the medical and scientific professions

The web site provides country reports, publications, campaigns, educational materials and news archives on a series of issues ranging from land mines, torture, refugees, juvenile justice, blood diamonds, HIV/AIDS and war crimes
