This training module deals with generalised poverty gap measures, particularly those poverty measures based on the definition of the poverty gap. The analysis facilitated the possibility to investigate poverty on a more advanced basis, compared with the information conveyed by the headcount ratio and the simple poverty gap measure.
This module gives users the tools required to apply generalised poverty gap measures to income distributions and discusses the merits and the shortcomings of these measures.
