About this guide

Some of the BRICS/Rising Powers – such as China, Brazil, and India – are considered to have achieved considerable social development gains in their home countries, which has led researchers, practitioners and policy-makers to analyse ways of learning from these countries’ experiences and applying these lessons elsewhere. This guide looks at research outputs that examine the role and impact of the BRICS and Rising Countries, particularly in low income countries in Africa, and explores how we can extract lessons from their success towards achieving significant poverty reduction and positive developmental gains.

This guide is produced in association with the Rising Powers in International Development Programme at the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex, UK.
