Global civil society: shifting powers in a shifting world

This series of papers explores the formation of civil society internationally and its relation to democratisation and development. Papers specifically look at social movements in a neo-liberal era - ethnographies of local activists in transnational networks; the implications of the growing clout of emerging powers for civil society; diaspora, transnational engagement and the national regimes; globalisation and trade union internationalism.
