VSO Regional Health and AIDS Initiative for Southern Africa (RHAISA): Towards improving the health outcomes and realizing the rights of the disadvantaged
The Regional Health and AIDS Initiative for Southern Africa (RHAISA), is Voluntary Service Overseas’ (VSO’s) flagship programme championing VSO's regional response to HIV and AIDS in southern Africa. The main aim is to strengthen the capacity of government, civil society actors and communities to develop, implement and manage effective and appropriate responses posed by health and HIV and AIDS in the region.
This document outlines VSO's strategic approach to their regional response to HIV and AIDS in southern Africa, and provides background and context of affected groups, and information about their four priority areas from 2015-2020, including:
- HIV and AIDS prevention and treatment
- Adolescent sexual reproductive health
- Women economic empowerment for better health
- Health and HIV and AIDS services in prisons.
