The Program

The Australian Government has established the Fiji Program Support Facility (the Facility) to implement its Education, Health and Scholarship aid programs in Fiji and its Scholarship program in Tuvalu. The Facility will also support the Civil Society Sector in Fiji and delivery of Australia’s emergency response efforts following natural disasters, as well as governance sector support when requested by the Fijian Government.

The Civil Service Reform Management Unit (CSRMU) manages and implements a range of reforms across the civil service in Fiji.

The company managing the Facility on behalf of the Australian Government, Coffey, is recruiting the position of Hospital Management Adviser on behalf of the CSRMU. The Adviser will report to the Director CSRMU and the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MOHMS) in Fiji. 

The Position

The Hospital Management Adviser will work closely with the relevant senior officials both in the hospitals and Ministry HQ to review previous reports and recommendations in respect of hospital operations and roles. This position will also identify and document the key responsibilities required to effectively and efficiently manage the hospitals, including in both corporate and clinical areas. The Adviser, will clearly define how the identified responsibilities can most effectively be assigned ensuring accountability for all aspects of hospital management. During the review, the Adviser will specify changes in planning, budgeting, reporting processes and financial /HR delegations needed to support more effective management at hospital level. The Adviser will also be responsible for documenting effective job descriptions for relevant roles and for coaching and mentoring staff at all levels.

The Person

Are you an experienced Hospital Leadership professional with skills in implementing strong change management across large and complex organisations?

The ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate significant experience at senior executive Level in hospital management or leadership. You will hold a relevant Masters in Health Management, Organisation Development, Human Resource Management or similar. The successful candidate will have the ability to quickly research and identify underlying problems and issues which impact the implementation of change, particularly with regard to changing roles and responsibilities. Demonstrated experience in change management and coaching and the ability to rapidly and effectively effect change in roles and responsibilities will be required for success in this role. The ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with people from varying backgrounds, levels and experience is essential. Experience working on a small island or in Pacific countries will be highly regarded.
