- Opportunity for an experienced health information systems specialist to contribute to strengthening the health sector in Fiji

The Australian Government has established the Fiji Program Support Facility (the Facility) to implement its education, health and scholarship aid programs in Fiji and its scholarship program in Tuvalu. The Facility will also support the delivery of Australia’s emergency response efforts following natural disasters, and governance sector support when requested by the Fiji Government.
Support to Fiji’s health sector is a key component of the Facility. The focus of the support is on strengthening health service delivery as well as health systems strengthening, in particular financial planning, policy and management.
Coffey, through the Facility, is seeking applications for an Information/Business Analyst to contribute to the health program’s goals.
The Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MoHMS) has good digital information on individuals who have been admitted to hospital. However, digital information on patients interacting with primary care and public health is not available at the individual level. The MoHMS is looking to improve that in three key areas. The Information/Business Analyst will support and work closely with colleagues in the Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services across the country to assess current and future information system requirements to determine the best information system options for each of these three areas:
- Improved patient screening, information management, monitoring and tracking of CVD/diabetes and hypertension;
- Improved tracking of immunisations;
- Improved tracking of people eligible to screened for cervical and breast cancer and any required follow up once screened;
There are two other closely related projects in the Health Program that the Information/Business Analyst will work closely with. This will include scoping the establishment of a national vaccine preventable disease unit and a national screening unit, as well as activity focused on quality improvement of the PEN model in Fiji.
The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications from a recognised university; with at least 5-10 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or related role, including experience in gathering information requirements and analysis of potential solutions, preferably in the context of healthcare services.
Candidates will need demonstrated experience in scoping and implementing information systems, including preparing budgets or business cases to implement information systems at a national level, preferably in developing country contexts. Strong facilitation skills in working with multiple stakeholders and building consensus will be required. Familiarity with local Fijian government functions and procurement systems would be an advantage.
