The sustainable livelihoods approach to project design: does it work?

In line with DFID’s 1997 White Paper on partnerships, DFID-India plans to work closely with Orissa and Andhra Pradesh over the next decade. Two new projects aim to contribute to India’s efforts to eliminate poverty by supporting the country’s watershed development programme. How did the emerging concept of the sustainable livelihoods (SL) approach and framework feed into the project design process?
