Policy paper on Denmark’s support to humanitarian mine action

Overview of Danish support for humanitarian mine action and to draw up general guidelines for the prioritisation of future initiatives.

Denmark’s general priorities are to:

• continue and intensify its support for all aspects of humanitarian mine action, including advocacy, support for mine victims, information, co-ordination, local capacity building and physical mine clearance
• seek to provide the catalyst that can promote a broader internationaleffort
• provide long-term, targeted and flexible support
• target assistance where humanitarian needs are most acute
• concentrate activities geographically to create synergy with other Danish activities
• base all new initiatives on in-depth socio-economic analyses

The paper concludes with future guidelines for financing and channelling of Danish support.
