Responsible entrepreneurship for sustainable development

This magazine issue is made up of eight articles looking at business and sustainability.

It begins with an editorial by the head of UNEP and then provides some facts and figures relating to consumption, industry and sustainability. Authors then look at the following areas:

• what can business bring to the WSSD
• making development good business: delivering goods and services needed to satisfy the basic requirements of the poor can be both profitable and socially responsible
• sustainability for all: argues for the need to ensure corporate accountability and liability for environmental damage via government intervention
• the Global Compact: learning to manage globalization
• a tool for future-oriented decision making: combined monetary and biophysical indicators
• trade unions and sustainable development
