A commitment to action for expanded access to HIV/AIDS treatment
A commitment to action for expanded access to HIV/AIDS treatment
This document describes the International HIV Treatment Access Coalition (ITAC) and the ways in which it is working to expand access in developing countries to HIV/AIDS treatment.
The ITAC is a coalition between NGOs, government, foundations, the private sector, academic and research institutions and HIV sufferers to increase the availability and uptake of treatments. ITAC aims to accomplish this by facilitating the sharing of information about pilot programs, fostering advocacy to lower drug prices, encouraging donations, supporting the implementation and evaluation of treatment programs and controlling drug quality.
It presents ITAC plans for the future: ITAC will pool and coordinate the resources, knowledge and technical capacity of its partners to accelerate progress on key steps which must now be taken to increase access to HIV/AIDS treatment and care.
