Overcoming divisions in South African society with the help of CBOs

How can community based organisations (CBOs) contribute to South Africa's struggle to overcome structural divisions in the post-apartheid era? This paper calls on CBOs to support their local governments in producing an Integrated Development Plan (IDP).

IDPs are the most important mechanism available to government to transform the structural differences in the previously divided society. It also presents one of the primary means to achieve community development.
