Comprehensive map of rural Ethiopia

Maps are a critical resource for both research and administration. They are, however, a scarce resource in Ethiopia. This leads to researchers being vague about case study location and inaccuracies of distance. This paper presents a map of North Walo region which is aimed to be easy to use for the non-expert.

This map is based on the topographic maps of the Ethiopian Mapping Agency and the administrative maps of the Central Statistical Agency for the 1994 census. It aims to fill in the gaps that these two sources tend to have. The map highlights roads, administrative regions and includes transliteration of Amharic names.
