Employment is a Territorial Issue

Unemployment and job creation are central concerns of government. But analysis of the labour market to date have generally been based on the examination of national economies. Little is known about the diversity and dynamics of regional and local labour markets in which most individuals and enterprises are active. Recent OECD work on territorial indicators of employment reveals new patterns in the rural-urban division of labour, with important policy implications.
