Report to assess the environmental development co-operation opportunities in four Central Asian countries - Kazakstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The report discusses briefly the socioeconomic situation, the major environmental concerns and the structure of environmental concerns and the structure of environmental administration in the countries reviewed. The environmental co-operation projects, proposed by local authorities and international organisations, are presented. Lists of ongoing international environmental co-operation projects are included to describe the scope of current donor actitivities. The last chapter includes conclusions and recommendations for future actions to be taken through the Finnish official development co-operation. [author]
