A draft framework for designing national health policies with an integrated gender perspective

Paper provides an introduction to some of these conceptual and technical issues underlying the development of gender sensitive health policies. It begins with a clarification of the relationship between gender, health and health care and then moves on to present an introductory framework for the mainstreaming of gender issues in the health sector itself. It concludes with some brief observations about gender equity and equality and its overall significance in the public policy debate. [author]
