Digital Library on Gender Budgets

This is a collection of basic concepts & case studies on Gender Budgets all over the world.

What methodologies or tools can be used to make public budgets sensitive to gender differences? Emakunde - the Basque Woman's Institute, an autonomous body of the Basque Government - has started the 'Gender and Budgets' programme to help mainstream gender in every administration's budget. This document presents all the material contained in a Digital Library on Gender Budgets, one of the initiatives of the programme. Papers in the first section analyse theories and policies aiming to prove that budgets are not gender neutral. Other sections gather methodological materials and tools to integrate a gender perspective in budgets policies, including gender audits and gender indicators, and provide case studies and experiences including from government policies. The document also features a bibliography with references to other related material and contact details of experts and organisations working on the theme.
