UN Reform: What does it Mean for Women's Rights?
The process to reform the United Nations (UN) has been under way for a few years now. Given the importance of the UN in advancing human rights, global security, sustainable development and women's empowerment, how can we be sure that the fast-paced reforms under debate will really protect and promote women's rights? Women's rights and gender equality advocates have to ensure that accountability on women's human rights is an integral part of the reform process. This Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID) webpage on UN reform and women's rights provides links to latest news on the UN reform process as it relates to the gender equality architecture; suggests readings for activists who want to learn more about women's rights and the UN Reform process; lists additional resources - articles, interviews and more in-depth documents; and recommends actions to take to promote a stronger and more responsive gender architecture at the UN.
