Technology utilisation in the Malawian agricultural sector

One of the major challenges facing the Department of Agricultural Research Services (DARS) in Malawi is the low adoption of new agricultural technologies by farming communities, especially smallholder farmers. There are many reasons for this, including lack of knowledge, know-how, skills and awareness and poverty. Lack of awareness is an endemic problem, especially among smallholder fanners that has significantly contributed to low adoption rates.

This document presents one tool for disseminating such information on new agricultural technologies to various stakeholders in the agriculture sector, and enhancing technology transfer, adoption and utilization.
