Waste not want not: making the most of urban organic waste

Solid waste management in urban areas in the south is often inadequate and under- resourced. A good deal of information does exist on the role that the formal and informal sectors could play. But what about the role of the farmer? How do farmers and livestock keepers contribute to the generation and use of urban organic waste? Collaborative UK and Indian research asks: how can the collection, disposal and treatment of urban waste meet farmers' needs more effectively?
