Two issues dominate debate about South Africa's post-apartheid economic policy. They are growth and the just redistribution of income and wealth. Can both be achieved? Should priority be set on one or the other? If so, how? Researchers at the Centre for the Study of African Economies at Oxford University probed these questions in the light of Zimbabwe's experiences of economic policymaking since Independence, which (they conclude) contain important lessons.
