About Safe Child Thailand

Safe Child Thailand (SCT) was established 35 years ago to support the work of organisations helping orphaned and abandoned children in Thailand. Over the years the work has grown and spread to many parts of the country.

The organisation has built up an extensive network of partner organisations throughout Thailand and their work covers areas such as anti-child trafficking, child protection and promoting alternative care for institutionalised children.

The organisation has recently carried out a full programme review aiming to put in place far greater emphasis on working towards the deinstitutionalisation of children and vulnerable young adults and to promote alternative care.

SCT has a major role to play in this area and already partners with several Thai NGOs and grassroots organisations who are at the forefront of alternative care in the country. SCT have and continue to build up an extensive database of knowledge and resources. SCT is extremely well positioned to take the lead in building the capacity and effectiveness of partners in this important area.

The Role

Safe Child Thailand is looking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer, reporting directly to a Trustee Board and leading a dynamic senior management team comprising of Head of Programmes and Partnerships, Head of Fundraising and a Senior Management Accountant.

The CEO will be leading the organisation to deliver Safe Child Thailand’s mission, develop and deliver its strategy, inspire and lead the staff, build strategic partnerships and act as the organisation’s public face in Thailand, the UK and Internationally.

Person Specification

  • Demonstrated experience of developing and implementing strategic plans of a medium sized international development organisation and has seen an organisation through a period of change
  • Proven track record of fundraising and growing income with diverse sources, including corporate and major donors
  • Ability to create and maintain partnerships for fundraising purposes
  • Strong leadership in organisational governance, programme development and advocacy in child and human rights context
  • Sound team management skills, with demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a multi-cultural team
  • Good understanding of rights-based development and passionate about child protection and safeguarding in Thailand context
  • Strong communication and media skills.


  • Previous working experience and professional networks in Thailand.
