The Program

The goal of Australia Awards in Indonesia (AAI) is to enhance Indonesia’s development through the contribution of internationally qualified professionals and a strong and positive relationship with Australia. This will contribute to the overall objectives of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) development cooperation program in Indonesia.

The Position

The Innovations and Quality (IQ) Adviser provides direction and coordination to all AAI sub-program teams to support the application of program enhancements resulting from outputs of the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework, decisions arising from the Program Coordinating Committee, and collaborations with Indonesian home-grown scholarship programs. The IQ Adviser also takes the lead on quality assurance and the effective implementation of the AAI Social Inclusion Strategy.

The IQ Adviser anticipates and identifies significant issues related to quality, efficiency, effectiveness, value-for-money, innovation and risk across program activities, and establishes their scope and advises on the need for direction and further action from the Program Director, Deputy Program Director, Senior Managers and Managers. The IQ Adviser proposes, designs and coordinates policy and operational reviews, evaluations, research and other ad hoc projects that result in new and innovation program initiatives or that enhance the scope, value-for-money, sustainability and impact of existing program activities.

The IQ Adviser is responsible to the Program Director for the overall success of innovation and quality initiatives, including the quality of the analysis, the feasibility of recommendations and completion within specified time periods.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience working in International development or related fields, preferably with In-country experience in Indonesia. We are seeking a specialist who has a minimum of 5 years’ experience applying social inclusion principles to support gender and disability support measures in program delivery in addition to a minimum of 5 years’ experience working with Government of Indonesia (GoI) ministries, departments and agencies, including demonstrated experience in engaging with senior GoI officials.

To be successful in this role, you will be a high level strategic thinker with well-developed inter-personal skills for building and maintaining relationships, delivering messages and identifying and managing issues. Together with the ability and willingness to manage change, you will demonstrate a high-level proficiency in presentation, communication and report writing skills.  Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Fluency in Indonesian language is desirable.
