Primary Curriculum and Materials Specialist (Science)

The Program
The goal of BEQUAL is to ensure more girls and boys of primary school age, particularly those experiencing disadvantage, achieve functional literacy and numeracy and acquire life skills. The program will address education policy, planning and coordination, increased child participation in and access to basic education, teacher education and improved school infrastructure.
Coffey, through BEQUAL, is now seeking applications for a Primary Curriculum and Materials Specialist (Science) to join this significant and high performing education program.
The Position
The Primary Curriculum and Materials Specialist will provide on the job training and mentoring to Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) curriculum writers and materials developers to ensure alignment with the new curriculum, and materials that are contextually appropriate, gender sensitive, and inclusive of disadvantaged groups.
The Person
You will have relevant tertiary qualifications in Education, and demonstrated experience working in primary education at the school or system level, preferably in primary science.
Coupled with experience developing curriculum, teaching and learning resources for primary education and your understanding of capacity development approaches, including targeted training and mentoring, you will display the ability to work as part of a team and partner with MoES counterparts and other colleagues.
Along with a strong understanding of international development agreements and issues, including the aid effectiveness agenda, Millennium Development Goals, Education for All and global funds and your experience in the development of primary science curricula and materials, ideally, you will display sound practice in the basic education sector in a South East Asian developing country context.
You will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and experience working in a multilingual and multicultural context, the ability to effectively self-manage the allocation of priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision while working effectively with within a diverse team to deliver results on time.
Displaying experience addressing gender equality, disability and social inclusion and child protection, you will approach problem solving in a flexible and culturally sensitive manner while working independently and in a flexible and dynamic team environment.
Previous experience in the education sector, within South East Asia or Lao PDR is preferred.
