An amazing opportunity has arisen to join our DRC team, Alert’s largest country programme. We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our DRC team, Alert’s largest country programme. This is a project manager position of the project “Tujenge Pamoja – Let’s build together”, a project that International Alert was awarded by the Stabilisation Support Unit of the MONUSCO in participation with the STAREC (DRC Stabilization program) and the UNDP. It is the second largest program budget for Alert DRC, and the program has 9 local partners for the execution of the program. The project is covering 5 pillars of the I4S (International Security and Stabilization Support Strategy), which are mainly improving security, supporting the political process, restoring state authority, facilitating return, reintegration and recovery, and fighting sexual violence.
While the project is coming to an end, Alert is anticipating to have an extension to this project, pending confirmation from the donor.
You will be responsible for the timely and effective implementation of the project through the establishment of appropriate systems and procedures and the leadership of the project team. You will ensure coordination and synergy across implementing local partners, contributing to maximising the overall impact of project activities.
In collaboration with the communication and advocacy specialist, other project staff and with relevant Alert personnel, you will be responsible to develop, monitor and oversee the implementation of a project advocacy and networking strategy. You will also be responsible for monitoring progress and impact and reporting on it as well as nurturing a close collaboration and relationship with an increasingly highly demanding donor. As a senior member of the DRC team, you can be requested to take leadership and representation responsibilities as necessary.
You will be professionally credible based on your extensive experience and have deep knowledge of the issues at stake and able to communicate effectively with a wide range of actors working on conflict management, social cohesion and development programmes.
You should have proven record of managing large, complex and disperse programming, and management experience with large teams with remote locations. In addition, you should have experience of developing and nurturing constructive relationships with local partners (governmental and non-governmental). Previous working experience in high risk locations, preferably in the Great Lakes region is essential.
You will have exceptional organisational and detail-oriented skills and the ability to handle stressful situations. Excellent working knowledge (spoken and written) of both French and English is essential.
