New Lancet series nourishes G8 discussion

There has been a lot of attention to and activity around the issue of nutrition in recent months in the lead-up to the G8 meeting, which took place in Northern Ireland on June 17th and 18th. Campaigns and events - including the IF campaign and the Nutrition for Growth Summit - aimed to increase financial and political commitments to, and action on, hunger and nutrition.

A number of key resources have been produced to contribute to the discussion, debate and evidence base, and we highlight them below.

New Lancet series

 In 2008, The Lancet published a series of papers on maternal and child undernutrition. The 2013 Series on Maternal and Child Nutrition re-evaluates the issues five years on. It looks at undernutrition, but also examines the growing problems of overweight and obesity for women and children, and their consequences in low-income and middle-income countries. National progress in nutrition programmes and international efforts toward previous recommendations are also a key focus of the series.
