Manages environmental datasets in the fields of: solar-terrestrial physics; solid earth geophysics; marine geology and geophysics; palaeoclimatology; glaciology (snow and ice). For each of these it operates a World Data Center (WWDC A) discipline centre. Also an archive of satellite images from the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP). Part of the USA National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
