National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia is the biggest scientific self-governing organization uniting several scientific and research centers in Armenia. It promotes and carries out fundamental and applied research in different scientific fields, as well as coordinates research carried out throughout the country. The Academy acts as an official scientific consultant to the highest governing bodies of Armenia.

The Academy has three main divisions depending on particular area of science:

• Division of Physical, Mathematical and Technical Sciences
• Division of Natural Sciences
• Division of Humanitarian Sciences

It also includes Fundamental Scientific Library, Scientific Information Center, International Scientific Educational Center, Gitutyun publishing house and subsidiary services.

The Academy issues 13 scientific journals in the main scientific areas of specialization.
