The Institute of Political Science of the Slovak Academy of Sciences was founded in 1990 (originally known by the name "Politologicky kabinet" or "Political Science Section"). Its primary task was the study of political relations and processes of both domestic and international affairs. In particular, study focuses on such areas as geopolitical research, research into political systems, history of political thought, contemporary historical analysis and methodology of political studies.
