Liberální Institut, Czech Republic
The Liberální Institut (Liberal Institute) is a non-governmental, non-partisan, non-profit think tank for the development, dissemination and application of classical liberal ideas and programs based on the principles of classical liberalism.
The research activity of the Liberální Institut at the macroeconomic level is focused on the transformation of Czech society, and on the analysis and monitoring of the current situation and ongoing trends in other countries that have suffered from totalitarianism based on centrally planned economies. Increasing attention is being paid to the microeconomic level and to the development of the private sector. Research areas include:
- macroeconomic development
- regulation and deregulation
- public finance
- business cycles and money supply
- international financial markets
- competition in the Czech heating industry and the cohesion of energy markets (2002)
- railways as an integral part of the transportation market (2002)
- the effects of a ban on tobacco products advertising in the Czech Republic (2000)
- competition within the Czech gas industry (1999)
- competition - the way towards an effective production and consumption of electricity (1998)
