Russian Economic Barometer,, Russian Federation (REB)

Russian Economic Barometer (REB) is a long-term research program launched by the Institute of World Economy and International relations. The main aim of the program is monitoring and investigation of the process of transition to the market economy in Russia. In December 1991 REB started regular economic surveys. In 1992 'The Russian Economic Barometer' monthly bulletin in Russian and quarterly in English, for foreign customers, was founded.

The main research themes of the Russian Economic Barometer are:

  • investment behavior of enterprises and prospects of economic growth in Russia
  • interaction between enterprises and banks in Russia
  • level of competition and profitability of enterprises

Other research activities include:

  • payment systems of the Russian industry (barter, cash, etc.)
  • ownership structure and problems of corporate governments in Russia
  • managers' understanding and evaluation of the government economic policy

The website in Russian and English contains main abstracts from monthly and quarterly bulletins.
