  The growth of informal employment opportunities, particularly for women, has not been much studied. The authors argue, however, that informal employment is an essential part of survival strategies for Palestinian households and represents a significant component of economic activity. The occupation of the area has limited the opportunities to build long-term economic infrastructure.
