    Nepal, according to many, faces the danger of an ethnic war breaking out the southern region of Tarai. This paper argues that, although Nepal represents complex ethnic and caste allegiances that would preclude violent clashes, polarisation in the Tarai region between the Madhesis and the Parbatiyas is at risk of escalating into all-out conflict.
